LIFE’S INSPIRATIONS: “… the angel said to them, `Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord’…” (Luke 2:8-11, the Holy Bible).

REASON WHY SENDONG CAME? And now, the bad news: residents of Cagayan De Oro City will still not get water from their faucets for a few more days, because thieves took advantage of the chaos brought by Sendong and stole the water district’s production facilities and distribution systems, worsening further the city’s water woes. Are these thieves the reason why the city was penalized with Sendong’s rains and floods?

GREED AND CRIMINAL NEGLECT: One more bad news: almost a week after Sendong, Iligan City remains flooded, no longer with water, but with thousands of logs which came from illegally cut trees from the city’s mountain region. Did God use Sendong, and the death and destruction in its wake, to show to all and sundry the greed in the hearts of Iligan City illegal loggers and unscrupulous individuals, and the criminal neglect of its public officials in allowing this rape of its forests?

TEN PROVINCES TO BE HIT BY DEADLY RAINS & FLOODS: Now, here’s one other bad news: ten Philippine provinces are likely to suffer the same kind of deadly rains and floods, according to the Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources. These are Pangasinan, Pampanga, Tarlac, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Ilocos Norte, Maguindanao, North Cotabato, Oriental Mindoro and Metro Manila. Are Filipinos from these places ready to battle with rains and floods?

PAGASA WARNS OF MORE RAINS AND FLOODS IN SUMMER: This bad news takes on a very great significance with the warning issued by PAGASA, or the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Sciences Administration, that the country, especially its eastern provinces, will have more rains even during the summer season in 2012, because of the heightened La Nina phenomenon. With more rains, PAGASA is saying, there will be more floods and landslides. Indeed, what are we doing to truly prepare for these natural calamities?

THE WAY TO FIGHT RAINS & FLOODS: The only way to prepare is to follow what Jesus, our God and Savior, said in Matthew 7:24-27 of the Bible: we must now endeavor to truly listen to His Word (which means, read the Bible), and sincerely obey His commands. If we do not follow Jesus, the only alternative is death and destruction, for that was what He said. Jesus, as God, is faithful to His Word. So what are we waiting for?

ABALOS MERELY CONNED? If Benjamin Abalos, the former election chief, could prove that there were really lawyers who offered to fix his electoral sabotage case with the help of Pasay Judge Jesus Mupas, he should not only seek the judge’s inhibition or disqualification from his case. Abalos should file the necessary graft charges. But then, he must prove first that those who came to him with the offer really were sent by Mupas. Otherwise, it would appear that some people only tried to “con” him in his hour of need.

ANGARA CALLS FOR TELCO PREPARATIONS: Sen. Edgardo Angara could not have said it better: Globe, Smart, Sun and even PLDT and Bayantel, must come up with back up systems to assure their continuing operations after disasters shall have stopped their operations. “We enhance our abilities in managing disasters when we make sure that in the face of any disruption, our telecommunications services are resilient and quick to go back online,” Angara said. Is anyone responding to Angara’s call?

THANK GOD FOR EVERYTHING: As we celebrate Christmas 2011, let us remember to thank God for everything that happened to us during the last 365 days. Whether we consider the events that occurred as good or bad, thanking God will assure us of His continuing blessings, guidance and protection, no matter what. As Ephesians 5:20 of the Bible says: “… always give thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
-ooo-

MERRY CHRISTMAS, GOD LOVES US: And as we face another year, let us not forget that God, the Mighty Creator, loves us very much, even in the face of our unforgivable sins. This love will see us through thick and thin. John 3:16 of the Holy Bible said: “For God so loved the world He gave us his only Son, so that whoever believes in Him will not perish, but will have everlasting life…” Merry Christmas!!!
