The Rotary Club of Zamboanga City (RCZC) is celebrating its 67th year as a civic-socio club today. Chartered on March 5, 1948, this highly admired organization is one of the oldest in the Philippines. It is also a multi-awarded club recognized by different government and private agencies. Ranked 11th in the roster of Rotary Clubs in our country, its past presidents, current officers, and members are not only successful professionals and business people of our city, but they have a sincere heart to serve. As active Rotarian Vince Carbon stated, they are here to provide humanitarian services with a high ethical standards of vocation to build goodwill and peace.
To see the history of Zamboanga is to see the Rotary Club of Zamboanga City. From it ranks came leaders, opinion-makers, public servants, entrepreneurs, leading lights in many professions-- men who left indelible marks in the annals of zamboanga City they served. Men like former Senator Roseller T. Lim, the father of the Zamboanga Peninsula provinces, three illustrious Mayors-- Nic Valderrosa, Tomas Ferrer and Joaquin Enriquez Jr., counts among its illustrious members.
For 67 years, RCZC fondly referred as the Mother Rotary Club, have touched and changed lives of people and communities for the better. Among its achievements are water systems in remote areas, medical and dental missions, educational programs, youth as well elderly welfare projects, environmental and health activities. These events are its bloodlines.
Under the leadership of its current President Eric Harina with the theme, Light Up Rotary, RCZC is upped to a greater height and is clearly moving ahead . He is fully supported by his VP and President Nominee Danny Zabala, Secretary Victor Bucoy, Treasurer Cezar Reyes, President Elect Dr. Raymond Sator, active members, and the Rotary Anns. They are grateful to the assistance of the local government, Mayor Beng Climaco, City Health Office, DSWD, OSCA, City Library, business organizations, and private individuals who believe in their endeavors and cause.
Happy 67th anniversary, RCZC! Thank you for enlightening Zamboanga City. In commemoration of today’s event, the club will be conducting various community programs.
