The City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) announces the opening of 300 slots for manpower requirement for the construction of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) building in Pettit Barracks.
Needed are engineers, CAT operators, company nurse and construction workers that include mason, laborers and carpenters.

PESO manager Francisco Barredo said between 200-300 workers are needed to complete the P302 million BSP building which is under contract with the Manila-based EEI Construction Company.

Interested applicants may register at the PESO office in Pettit Barracks and bring along with them documentary requirements such as bio-data and training certificates from the Technical Education Skills Development Authority (TESDA) if any.

The project has commenced recently but hiring of workers continues, Barredo said.
Officials of Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas last January 25 conferred with Mayor Celso Lobregat to discuss developments concerning the construction of the BSP building at the bank’s property in Pettit Barracks.

The group, headed by Zamboanga branch head and deputy director Melodino Patiño, consisted also of representatives from the EEI Corporation, the construction firm that won the bid for the building construction project.

The building, based on the design and plans, will be a two-storey structure with landscaping and 3 separate structures. It will be constructed in the 7,000 square meter area owned by the BSP.

With the expected construction of the BSP building, the city government views Pettit Barracks as a tourist and financial hub rolled into one with operation of the Paseo del Mar and the Plaza del Pilar.

Mayor Lobregat during the meeting emphasized that buildings constructed in all stretches surrounding City Hall that include Pettit Barracks should conform with an architectural design that is reflective of the Hispanic and American heritage combined with the essence of modernity.  — Sheila Covarrubias
