Mayor Celso Lobregat has challenged Philippine Air Force reservists to join the local administration in preserving the momentum of progress and development that the city now enjoys and put to action the motto “ready to heed the country’s call”.

In his keynote speech during graduation ceremony for 75 reservists coming from the 61st Air Force Reserve Group Saturday afternoon, Mayor Lobegat motivated the graduates to be “foremost God-fearing and law-abiding citizens, because only by doing so can we be able to act and take action whenever and wherever is needed, with honesty and integrity”.

“You have just been trained on the rudiments of active duty and I hope what you learned during the course of this training will better prepare you to respond to the call of duty, especially in times of crisis”, he stressed.

Explaining on the reservists’ motto “Ready to Heed the Country’s Call” (Handa sa Tawag ng Inang Bayan), Mayor Lobregat said the call is not just for war nor to fight one another but a call for reservists in the Air Force to be God-fearing and law abiding cizitens. “Let us not wait for war before we act. Let us not just sit back and behold the happenings around us. Let us not be naïve. Let us not be passive. Let us be pro-active and productive in many ways than one.”

Mayor Lobregat, who is the commander of the 61st Air          Reserve Group likewise cited the numerous threats to the peace and freedom and urged the group not to allow themselves to be idle in the corners of the community. “On the contrary, let these threats be a challenge for us to be more participative in socio-economic development.”

He stressed on the many positive developments that occurred in Zamboanga City the past years and that there is a need for the reservists and all sectors to join the administration in preserving the momentum of progress and development.  “The best is still to come”.

The graduation ceremony, held at the EAAB Multi-purpose hall in Sta. Maria, culminated a 6-month training dubbed Unit Active Duty Training Class 01-10 conducted by the Headquarters 6th Air Force Reserve Center since July 2010.

The Air Force Reserve Command is one of he PAF’s major support commands created for the sole purpose of reserve force management, procuremen and reorganization. The trainings are being done to keep track of reservists and to manage mobilization for training and military operations.

“My fellow Air Force Reservists, time is now for us to exemplify and put into action our motto: “Ready to Heed the Country’s Call” (Handa sa Tawag ng Inang Bayan)”, he declared.
