Beng affirms support for breast cancer patients PDF Print E-mail

In observance of the Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Deputy Speaker and Zamboanga City’s 1st District Representative Maria Isabelle G. Climaco-Salazar reiterated her strong support and solid commitment to
the fight against breast cancer.

“We remain committed to the advocacy to fight against breast cancer," Cong. Climaco said.
She stressed that early detection remains to be the best prevention measure. She urged women of reproductive age to always be aware of the preventive measures.

The recently concluded kick-off of the month-long celebration which was organized by the Philippine Foundation for Breast Care (PFBC) highlighted series of activities and attended by more than one hundred
breast cancer patients at East Avenue Medical Center.

The opening ceremony was attended by Representative Lani Mercado-Revilla while Rep. Climaco was represented by Atty. Cherryl Ontalan, the Deputy Speaker’s legislative staff. To promote the
awareness of breast cancer prevention, it was followed by the unveiling of the photo exhibit which ran through the month of October displaying the photos and profiles of patients undergoing chemotherapy. As key sponsor of the celebration, Rep. Climaco provided the lunch for the breast cancer patients who were present during the
event.

Maria Lourdes Cortez, the president of PFBC expressed her grateful appreciation to Rep. Climaco for her continued support to the programs and activities of the foundation.

To note, Rep. Climaco was behind the program named Pink October, a Breast Cancer Prevention Advocacy, which was adopted and implemented in different legislative districts in the country.
