Congressman Celso Lobregat, who will vie for the mayoralty post this coming mid-term elections, consider himself as an underdog in this political battle come 2019.

This is due to the reason that he is challenging the position of an incumbent who has all the government resources to utilized to pursue her political career.

Congressman Lobregat said that amidst his acceptance to the call and the people’s clamor, to run as Mayor of Zamboanga City in the 2019 elections, he will be facing a very tough fight.

“This is going to be a tough fight, it will not be easy as our opponent is using all government resources for her re-election. Incentives are given to the senior citizens that were never given before, medicines are delivered personally to the houses of senior citizens which never happen in the past. Tarpaulins have been posted all over the place announcing projects still to come and so much more. All of these are done to give the impression that the city government is doing so much,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat said that God willing and with the help of the Zamboangeños with their votes, he will regain City Hall and bring back the proper governance which the people deserved and not the prohibitive administration.

The solon said that since he will be facing the political fight in his life, he will not be alone in this quest to bring forth the “Malasakit and Pagbabago” in local governance which is the present thrusts of the Duterte administration which his local party alliance represents.

City Hall will not have a cordon sanitaire, President Duterte wanted a pro-people government, and we will comply with that mandate. As a mayor, I will listen, I will consult but the final decision will be made by me, no matter how difficult the decision may be,” Lobregat said.

Bannering a strong political line up forming a four-party alliance, Lobregat hinted that the political parties of the; Partido Demokratikong Pilipino (PDP), Laban ng Demokratikong Pilipino (LDP), Nacionalista (NP) as well as the local party Adelante Zamboanga Party has already finalized its pool of candidates to be able to establish their powerhouse political line up who will carry the banner of the local coalition upon filing their Certificates of Candidacy on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

“This will be a main event, we will try to provide the best fighters from “Team Colorao” who will dominate in the succeeding council composition and can work with us and serve the people properly, without fear or favor,” Lobregat said.

Lobregat said that there is so much more to be done and I will need the help of everybody to get things done. We will concentrate and recalibrate our 18-point agenda, a social contract with the people of Zamboanga towards a more developed, peaceful and progressive Zamboanga City.

“Let us roll up our sleeves, let us unite and work, work, work so we can be elected and support the administration’s plans and programs of our party mate and President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. Como ta habla de mio Nana si Ma’am Caling: Man hunto-hunto kita todo para na diaton Victoria!” Lobregat said. – Dexter Yap
