The Zamboanga City Anti-Drugs Abuse Council (ZCADAC) chaired by Mayor Beng Climaco has been adjudged as this year’s most functional anti-drugs abuse body in the Zamboanga Peninsula (ZamPen) region.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Regional Office 9 advanced this information yesterday to the DILG Zamboanga City Office through its Operations Division Chief Jun Cillo.

Cillo said the ZCADAC bested the Provincial Anti-Drugs Abuse Councils (PADACs) in Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur and Zamboanga del Norte.

He said the ZCADAC garnered a functionality rating of 80%, the highest among the provinces and highly urbanized city category in the region.

The functionality award will be conferred on ZCADAC in a fitting ceremony scheduled for Dec. 28, 2018 at the DILG Central Office in Manila.

As this developed, Cillo congratulated the ZCADAC for having been adjudged as most functional in the region, the first recognition ever since its creation years back.

He attributed the honor to ZCADAC’s accomplishments in the implementation of various programs and activities against the illegal drugs, not to mention the efficiency of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (CDRRMO) under Elmeir Apolinario, being the head of the ZCADAC Secretariat.

For his part,  Apolinario shared the award with all ZCADAC members, representing the different government agencies and the private sector, even as he also thanked DILG City Director Moh. Taha S. Arakama and Cillo for having been very instrumental in the success of the city’s continuing fight against the illegal drugs.-(Vic Larato)
