The Climaco Freedom Park in Abong-abong will continue to undergo rehabilitation and improvement later this year.
According to Mayor Beng Climaco, the Phase II of the rehabilitation project for the Freedom Park will commence after the second quarter of 2017.
The rehabilitation project covers the development of the Freedom Park, particularly the construction and improvement of facilities such as paving, slope protection, and fencings and railings, for the safety and security of the community.
The Phase II of the rehabilitation project is a Php 9 million undertaking which covers the improvement of the 14 Stations of the Cross, the construction of gate and fencing, and railings and peak improvement. A separate budget of Php 1 million is set for the rehabilitation work on the viewing deck at Cruz Mayor.
Mayor Climaco earlier turned over the completed projects under Phase I prior to the observance of the 2017 Holy Week.
Around 85,000 devotees flocked to the CCC Freedom Park during the Holy Week observance last week.
The project is supervised by the General Services Office (GSO).The park was conceptualized by the late Mayor Cesar C.Climaco in the 1980s, thus, the name Mayor Cesar Cortez Climaco Freedom Park. (Jasmine Mohammadsali)
