A 29-year-old farmer was gunned down by armed suspects a year after his own brother was killed in Sitio Bahandi, Calabasa yesterday.

Curuan Police Station commander Chief Insp. Ramon Bautista identified the fatality as Alberto Tumambid y Canoy, married of Calabasa.

Initial investigation showed that Tumambid was on his way to Dulian and upon reaching Methias, in Sitio Bahandi, was shot by still unidentified gunmen.

Bautista said that the victim sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

The gunmen escaped aboard two motorcycles after the incident.

Policemen recovered 14 spent shells of 5.56 caliber at the crime scene.

Police said that last year, Tumambid’s brother Albert was also shot and killed in the same area.

Further investigation showed that lawless individuals in the area were suspecting the Tumambid brothers as military informants.

Police have launched hot pursuit operation for the possible arrest of the suspects.  (Dan Toribio)
