It was a case of bad luck for an Abu Sayyaf member who was arrested in barangay Quniput yesterday by lawmen who were trying to serve a warrant of arrest for the former’s colleague.

The suspect was identified as Hamsi Marani y Abubuakar.

Reports said that police were in Quiniput trying to serve a warrant of arrest to a certain Asbi Ahaddin, another member of the Abu Sayyaf.

Ahadin reportedly escaped while lawmen were trying to serve the warrant issued by Judge Rosevalles Filoteo of the Regional Trial Court, Branch 16.

Police however spotted Marani, recognized him as a member of the Abu Sayyaf and immediately arrested him.

Lawmen confiscated a detonating cord and two blasting caps from Marani’s possession.

The suspect was brought to the poilce office pending the filing of charges in court.  (Dan Toribio)
