West Metro Medical Center is now offering Shock Wave therapy for all victims of kidney and gallbladder stones.

Ramon H. Diaz, West Metro Medical Center President and Chief Executive Officer, said that the lithotripter machine arrived two months ago.

The service, which is a first in region 9, has already been used by at least eight patients in Zamboanga city.

The machine is similar to an x-ray where it will locate and crush stones.

The hospital also has three doctors who are qualified to do the procedure, which lasts for thirty minutes.

“You need not go to Cebu, Davao and Manila to have this (procedure.)  You can do it here, it is outpatient.  if lyou have gallstones and kidney stones, you do not need to be operated on.  What you do is come here and go home the same day.  You do not have to be confined,” said Diaz. (RGAAGo)
