The Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Stadium will not be ready for the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival, according to a public works official.

Engr Shadimar Jalaidi, DPWH 9 Project Engineer, said that the stadium is only 45% completed and may not be finished in time to host some activities in line with the Zamboanga Hermosa celebration this October.

Jalaidi said tha that the sports complex is supposed to be finished by June this year.

The project however encountered delays due to the late arrival of materials, particularly the artificial grass and the rubber for the track and field oval.

The materials are expected to arrive next month and need a period of 45 days of fair weather to be installed.

At present 20 laborers are working on the stadium’s fence, courts and lighting facility.

The contractors started the repair and rehabilitation of the sports complex last March 22 and have given a period of 276 calendar days to complete the project.  (RGAAGo)
