The Zamboanga City Water District’s pipe laying project is now on its final stretch, with an anticipated completion date this September.

Community Relations and External Affairs Section (CREAS) Chief Edgar Baños on Monday said asphalt overlays have commenced in certain project sections as the final phase to restoring the pavements affected by the pipe laying project.

Other than a 410 meter stretch that is still for final testing, the pipe laying component of the project itself has been completed, Baños clarified.

Several injection points are also still for hydrotesting, and will be ready this September.

“All the way down the 18 injection points, asta na punta del UZ, in front of City Hall, we are looking for to completing hydrotesting and downloading this month,” Baños said.

Once all injection points and pipes are tested, completed, and pavements restored, Baños said the public can expect water supply to be readily available.

“We’re working on a lot of things. By the end of the month, pwede kita asegura kay el agua abaha asta aqui na punta del di aton pueblo,” he said.

Baños also advised the public to inspect and monitor their water pipes as there is an anticipated increase in water pressure in the completed areas of the project.

“We are in the process of pressure management…we are trying to lower pressure in such a way that even in our second storey, ta subi siempre el agua,” said Baños

On matter of water supply, consistent rainfall in the City has ensured normal water levels at 74.20 meters, Baños announced. (Jasmine Mohammadsali)
