Daring shooting incidents leave one dead, another seriously wounded PDF Print E-mail

A collector of small- town lottery was killed while a lumberyard operator was seriously wounded in two separate gun attacks in Recodo and Bungiao, respectively, last Wednesday night.

The fatality was identified as Jolito Martizano y Malinao, married, a barangay tanod of Tulungatung and part-time collector of small - town lottery.

A police report disclosed that around 7:50 p.m. Martizano was remitting bet money to Jun Lasabas y Del Campo inside his residence in Dacon Homes, Recodo when the gunmen attacked him.

Police said that during the incident only the wife of Lasabas was at their residence while Martizano was remitting the bet money when the gunman appeared from nowhere and shot him several times..

The victim sustained multiple bullet wounds in the body and died on the spot.

Police recovered two deformed slugs and five spent shells of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

Police added that Lasabas’ wife claimed that she did not see the gunman as she dropped on the floor after hearing the successive gunfire.

Meanwhile, Jonel Ibanez y Batisco, 33, a sawmill operator of Zone 3, Bungiao was shot and seriously wounded inside their house.

The victim sustained a bullet wound in the head and was taken to the hospital.

Initial investigation showed that around 7:20 p.m. Ibanez was having a drinking spree with a friend identified as Hipolito Narca at his residence.

A couple minutes later, Ibanez went to their kitchen to get some food when a gunman who was standing in the dimly-lit portion outside their house shot him once and hitting him in the head.

Sangali Police Station commander Chief Insp. Chester Natividad said that they submitted one person of interest (suspect) for a paraffin test.
