Six persons were injured when a wayward truck rammed a car which set off a chain of collisions involving eight vehicles along the busy Veterans Avenue yesterday morning.

Among the vehicles hit by the truck are a car, a multicab van, a motorcycle, a passenger jeepney, a tricycle and a pick-up type truck.

Erwin Salazar, the truck driver, said that he and at least 20 coworkers in his truck were on their way to get cargo in Baliwasan when the accident happened.

The truck has just entered Veterans Avenue when Salazar noticed that his brake was malfunctioning.

The driver stopped the vehicle temporarily  by the roadside and tried to fix the brake then set off to resume their trip.

When the truck reached the area near the junction of Veterans and Don Toribio streets, the truck  totally lost its brakes and rammed onto a car.

The vehicle drivers and passengers sustained injuries due to the impact.

Salazar was placed under police custody while the affected vehicles were taken to the police station.  (Dan Toribio)
