The Department of Labor and Employment Regional Office-9 (DOLE-9) discovered  50 business establishments not paying the 13th month pay of their employees.

The discovery was made during inspection and monitoring activities made by DOLE for the first eleven months of this year.

DOLE-9 spokesperson Ian Lahi said that they also received complaints from 30 other workers saying that their employers have not paid their 13th month pay.

The DOLE has yet to complete its investigation on the information given by the workers.

Lahi said that employees may visit the DOLE office in case their employers fail to pay them their 13th month pay so the latter can take action against the business owners.

Earlier, DOLE made a call to employers asking them to pay the employees’ 13th month pay on time.

Lahi appealed to employers to pay the 13th month on or before the 15th of December for the workers to enjoy the extra cash for the holidays.  (RGAAGo)
