House of Representatives Committee chairman on Public Works and Highways and Congressman Celso Lobregat revealed today that the P360 million flood control project for the urban core and central district is already included in the 2018 General Appropriations Act (GAA) of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Lobregat said that such mega project also includes the road right of way and pumping station which is highly recomended to resolve floodig in the city proper.

Everytime there is heavy rain, one of the lowest portion of the city gets flooded. Water rushes and accumulates in the area of Southern City Colleges and the severity of the flooding there depends on the tide.

The master plan to solve the flood mitigation is ongoing afterwhich the plans will be laid out to include the purchase of a property at the end of Pilar street to house a pimping station.

This master plan to solve the flooding problem has been long sought after. Not only the plan but funding for its implementation is included in the GAA for 2018.

“It is the national governennt eho is solving the infrastructure problems of our city which has never happened in any past administration, and so i thank President Rodrigo Duterte and DPWH Secretary Mark Villar for this opportunity,” Lobregat said.

Being included in the Duterte administration’s Build,Build,Build program, Congressman Lobregat said that the national government will not cease from bringing the mega structures in Zamboanga City.-Dexter Yap
