Ombudsman orders Mayor, et al to answer corruption charges PDF Print E-mail

The Office of the Ombudsman in Mindanao has ordered Zamboanga Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco-Salazar, City Administrator Mary Angelique Go and nine city councilors to answer corruption charges filed by a local television radio station.

The joint order directed respondents to submit their respective counter affidavits and other controverting evidence within a period of ten days from receipt.

The order, penned by Marco Anacleto P. Buena, Officer-in-Charge of the Evaluation and Investigation Bureau, was received by the parties last February 9.

The respondents are facing criminal and administrative charges under case numbers OMB-M-C-17-0552 and OMB-M-A- 17-0599 for violation of Section 3 (e) of Republic Act 3019 otherwise known as the Anti Graft and Corrupt Practices Act for Usurpation of Authority or Official Function and for violation of Republic Act 6713 otherwise known as Conduct

Unbecoming of a Public Official; dishonesty, grave abuse of authority, grave misconduct and oppression.

Salazar and Go are the main respondents of the criminal case while the nine councilors together with the main respondents are charged under the administrative case.

Recall that Mr. Rey Bayoging, President and Chief Executive Officer of E-media Production Network filed the complaint against Salazar, Go and Councilors Cesar Jimenez, Juan Climaco- elago, Teodyver Arquiza, Elbert Atilano, Al-Jihan Edding, Tungkuh Hanapi, Josephine Pareja, Jimmy Villaflores and Charlie Mariano for their move to close down E-media on October 9 last year.  (Roland Ramos)
