The City Council has referred the 11-Island ordinance for another committee hearing after the group conducted an ocular inspection on the island group last Saturday.

“No quiere kita pasa ordinansa half-baked,”  Guingona stressed.

He said that the council cannot railroad the approval of the ordinance, a measure which he describes as a landmark legislation.

The 11-Island group is being eyed by the local government as the next banner tourist destination after Sta. Cruz Island.

Guingona outlined the steps to be undertaken prior to the approval of the ordinance.

This includes finalizing the Memorandum of Agreement among the following entities: the local government, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and the barangays where the islands are located.

The next public hearing will also take into consideration other suggestions given on the island group’s development plan and carrying capacity.  (RGAAGo)
