Mayor Maria Isabelle Climaco- Salazar yesterday said that credit should go to President Rodrigo Roa Duterte on the Cabatangan property issue stressing that the national government may soon purchase it.

"I think the credit should go to President Duterte because he intends to purchase the property," Salazar said.

The mayor also said she acknowledges the efforts of everyone who worked for the matter.

Secretary of National Defense Delfin Lorenzana earlier asked the city mayor for some important details regarding the status of the Cabatangan property, which currently is owned by the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

The said ARMM property has now become an important issue pending the forthcoming bicameral conference on the proposed Bangsamoro Basic Law (BBL).

The Cabatangan property has a total land area of 71,096 hectares with an estimated worth of P359 million.

"It’s best that Cabatangan be already purchased by the national government." Salazar said.

The military is also interested of the area because of its strategic location. (R.G. A A. Go)
