Motorcycle riding gunmen struck anew and shot dead a female government employee in Barangay Upper Naga-Naga, Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay last Monday.

Chief Insp. Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-9 Information Officer, identified the victim as Marife Bonghanoy, 44- years- old, an employee of the Alicia local government and a resident of Barangay Kapatagan, Alicia Municipality.

Galvez said that the victim was riding a motorcycle together with 21-year- old driver Ariel De Fiesta when they were ambushed by three suspects riding on another motorcycle.

One of the back riders fired three times at the victim causing Galvez’s motorcycle to fall on its side.

One of the suspects then approached the victim who was lying on the ground and fired three more shots, causing the latter’s death.

The victim sustained five gunshot wounds and was brought to a government hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Police are conducting an investigation to determine the motive behind the incident.  (Dan Toribio)
