Cop, ex-soldier nabbed for ammo smuggling PDF Print E-mail

A policeman and a retired soldier were arrested during an entrapment operation for smuggling of ammunition in Sitio Flamingo, Calarian last Saturday morning.

Nabbed were SPO1 Alkalif Mohammad y Hawaji, assigned at the 84th SAG of the Special Action Force and retired army TSgt. Ernesto Tio y Cañale.

They were arrested by men of the CIDMB-SIU led by Chief Insp. Arlan Delumpines, under the supervision of City Police Director Sr. Supt. Alan Nazaro and 44th MIG of ISAFP, 11 IB, 3rd IB OF PHIL ARMY, and Intel Unit of JTFZ, at around 10:20 a.m.

Lawmen recovered from their possession a long magazine alloy loaded with 30 rounds of green tip ammos and 100 rounds of regular ammos of 5.56 cal (M-16) and marked-money amounting to P3,000.

A police report showed that the suspects transacted with a police undercover agent who acted as a poseur buyer of the ammunition.

After the exchange of the items and the marked money, lawmen cornered and arrested them.

The suspects were detained at the Zamboanga City Police Office pending the filing of charges in court. – Dan Toribio
