A man was reportedly shot for annoying neighbors along Arsadon Drive in Barangay Recodo last Monday night.

The incident happened a mere two hours after an ambush was staged by riding-in-tandem suspects along the highway in Upper Calarian, a village just meters away.

The victim was identified as Isabelo Kilat y Baterna, 40 years old, married and a native of Imelda Municipality, Zamboanga Sibugay.

Police said that prior to the incident, Baterna and some friends have reportedly been creating a ruckus while engaging in a drinking session inside the former’s boarding house.

MInutes later, Baterna emerged from the house to buy cigarettes at a nearby store.

While on his way, the victim was shot by an unidentified suspect who then fled on foot after committing the crime.

Baterna sustained a gunshot wound in the head and in his right foot and sought treatment at a government hospital.

Police who responded to the area failed to conduct a thorough investigation after finding the scene of the crime cleared.

It was found out that a certain Jan-Jan, later identified as Mohawarjan Sapayani y Maruji, who cleaned the area by picking up empty bullet shells and pouring water on blood droplets.

Sapayani was taken by police to the station and is now facing charges for Obstruction of Justice for destroying the crime scene.

A deeper investigation is being conducted by police on the incident. (Dan Toribio)
