Depression is said to be the reason behind the reported suicide of a barangay kagawad in Barangay Capisan, this city last Wednesday.

At around 11:40 a.m. Michael Faustino y Ignacio, 28, married, a resident of Sitio Tumanday, Capisan, was discovered hanging lifeless under a tree a few meters away from their home.

The incident was discovered by Faustino’s brother, Erwin, who immediately reported the incident to family members and the police.

Initial investigation showed that the barangay official left home early in the morning of the same day and failed to return.

Faustino had reportedly been suffering from depression due to severe tuberculosis.  This might have pushed him to commit suicide, police said.

The cadaver was brought to a funeral parlor for post mortem examination.  (Dan Toribio)
