More than 5,000 policemen have already been deployed in and around Zamboanga City to ensure security and order amid the merry-making and various activities in the celebration of the Zamboanga Hermosa Festival and also the Feast Day of the Lady of the Pillar, the city’s patron saint on Friday, October 12.

Police Regional Office-9 (PRO-9) regional director Chief Supt. Emmanuel Luis D. Licup assured that tight security measures are in place as the PRO 9, Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) and the military’s Joint Task Force Zamboanga (JTFZ) are closely working to ensure peace and security during the month-long festivity.

“Policemen and soldiers are closely working together,  securing the different areas of convergence and activities of the fiesta celebration,” Chief Supt. Licup said.

According to Licup, the deployment of police security forces is on rotation to the different sites of activities.

Licup has also ordered all policemen to be extra-vigilant at all cost in the performance of their duties.

“I’m reminding our troops that we are here to preserve peace, law and order. Those who want to disrupt the law and order by doing lawlessness during the celebration shall be neutralized. We are on red alert,” Licup pointed out.

The police regional director also warns out-of-town criminals to stop their illegal activities and criminal acts during the celebration as the police and other law enforcement agencies are already hunting them.
