Mayor Beng Climaco on Monday announced the appointment of PSSupt. Joseph Thomas Martir as the new City Director of the Zamboanga City Police Office (ZCPO) based on an order issued by higher headquarters last week.

Climaco welcomed Martir’s appointment saying the same was also based on the selection of the local government. In fact, she said, Martir was introduced to President Duterte during the latter’s visit to the city recently.

“With his appointment, we in the local government expect so much from the PNP to help in the fight against lawlessness and together with the Sangguniang Panlungsod members, who are here today, we will continue to uphold the law to protect the integrity of Zamboanga City against the Bangsamoro Organic Law (BOL),” Mayor Climaco said during her regular press briefing held at the Astoria Plaza Monday noon.

Martir assumed as Officer-In-Charge of the ZCPO, replacing SSupt. Alan Nazarro last Sept. 17, 2018 during simple rites held at the City Hall conference room. His assumption was pursuant to General Order 2018-2336 issued Sept. 3, 2018.  (Sheila Covarrubias)
